PROTECTED NATURE AREA (ANPIL) SERPENTINE OF PIEVE S.STEFANO

The green treasure chest of Valtiberina
The area consists of three mountainous ramparts of great scenic and environmental value for their particular geomorphology and the typical, extremely rare ophiolitic vegetation that thrives there.

Mount Petroso, Mount Murlo and Poggio delle Calbane are located near the town of Pieve S. Stefano, a town (the home of the diary) of Roman origin (Sulpizia) that straddles the Tiber river, just upstream from the artificial reservoir of Montedoglio. The area was extensively reforested in the Fifties. A vast network of trails permits guided tours with the official and exclusive guides of the Natural Reserves of the Province of Arezzo.
