This essay presents the small woodland area situated on the hills in the west of Imola, a precious evidence of the ancient forest landscape of the hills that at the end of the winter offers a spectacular flowering of common snowdrops. The woodland and its surrounding areas are characterized by small outcrops of the so-called "Sands of Imola", where the ethologist Giuseppe Scarabelli from Imola found during the 19th century remains of big terrestrial mammals and finds from the Lower Paleolithic. The guidebook is divided into chapters dealing with geomorphology, flora, wildlife, history, itineraries, and the organization of the Reserve.
