The artichoke, symbol and source of pride of the town, was cultivated in the surroundings of Ladispoli already in 1930. At that time, there were above all two artichoke qualities: one was called "Castellammare", a very precocious quality, and the other one was called "Campagnano" which ripened late but had a better aspect, since the artichokes were more closed and had a better color.
