From the small square where the Park Mountain Hut-Hotel "Locanda del Sorriso" is situated, take the carriage road on the left (direction East; GTA tally marks), climbing to Vallone Grande. After a short stretch, without considering the detour on the left leading to Tetti Prer, follow the right branch of the road that will subsequently become a trail.
You will reach a rocky gorge blocking the center of the gully along which the route, sometimes slippery, rapidly climbs on the left slope to the beech woodland where a larger trail develops in hairpin bends. Out of the woodland, cross a small stream and you will reach the panoramic ridge in the east of the nearby Caire di Porcera (1,818m). After a steep stretch on the ridge coming down from Mt. Pianard, the trail gets round it and develops in a long traverse. At about 1,950m you will find the last spring and, after going beyond some depressions, you will reach Colle della Garbella (2,170m).
At this point, you will enjoy an extraordinary panorama towards the west, where you can admire the wild slope Aiera-Carboné and, behind it, the high summits of Argentera massif. In the opposite direction, you can admire Bisalta and the summits of Upper Vermenagna Valley, while if you look down you will see the houses of Palanfré. Go ahead southwards on the grassy ridge and then go down to Palanfré along Val Garbella. Once you reach the service dirt road leading to Gias Garbella and Chiot summer mountain pastures, follow it downhill until you reach the end of the lap.
