The itinerary crosses several villages (téit = roof), whose presence witnesses the considerable past human pressure. Today these villages are abandoned and mainly consist of ruins. They were inhabited by very poor families practicing subsistence agricultural and breeding activities. Following "La via di Téit", hikers will carry out a journey back to the past, discovering the traces of a widespread but at the same time respectful exploitation of the resources the mountains offered to its inhabitants.
The trail connects Vernante with Palanfré, where you can decide whether returning to the departure point along the same trail or going down along the not very busy SP road. Along the trail, there are three alternative routes giving the opportunity to shorten the itinerary according to your needs.
From Vernante take the SP road of Val Grande until you reach a recreational area (Park panel). After 200m abandon the road and turn right on a dirt road. After leaving a detour on the right, continue until the end of the track and go ahead on a trail reaching Tetti Colletta 1,226m (from here a marked downhill trail branches off from the SP road along which you go back to the departure point). The itinerary goes beyond Bercia pass (1,231m) and reaches Tetti David and then Tetti Bertaina. Cross Vallone Cornalè and, after crossing the watershed, you will enter Vallone Pioccia, where you will find Tetti Doni (1,482m). At a junction, leave the detour on the right and continue up to the fountain of Saut (1,410m), where shortly after you will find the second alternative route where you can interrupt the itinerary. If you go ahead, you will go beyond Vallone Franco and fountain Gialina. Once you reach Tetti Cucet (1,505m), go down on the SP road leading to loc. "Ruina", and follow it until you reach the houses of Palanfrè.
