Il Lago di Garda
During the 20th century, Garda Lake gradually became one of the main European tourist resorts. A fact that could spread a stereotyped and unoriginal idea of this place, shaped above all according to the needs of the foreign presence.
The main aims of this new reading of the territory of Garda Lake are an updated definition of its environmental features, the evocation of the real space of the lake, a reconstruction of the local past able to grasp, in the current identity, the meeting between different cultural identities, historical heritage, economic features and administrative conditions, highlighting the characteristic discontinuities of a border region like the area of Garda, whose history can neither be interpreted in a straightforward manner nor codified in precise historical periods.
