Cogoleto rose about the beginning of the 7th century as a fishing village, as proved by the little alleyways which come off the main road used in the past to push the boats to the beach and into the sea. Nowadays in winter the little boats reign on the beach along which runs a long promenade.
Christopher Columbus was supposedly born in Cogoleto, and in the town center there is a plate which marks the house where he was born. Lerca is the oldest village on the outskirts of the municipal area, and now hosts an 18-hole golf course, while in Sciarborasca an old rural house hosts the Museum of country traditions.
You can't miss the Botanical Garden of Villa Beuca, with rare and exotic plants, and the Archeological Industrial Area of the Bianchi kiln.
