The Park is situated on the fluvial terraces of the river Taro and of the stream Baganza, which date back to the Pleistocene. From a geological point of view, it is made of autochthonous soils of continental origin. The plateau is crossed by several watercourses, and the landscape is characterized by mixed broadleaved tree woods and, above all in the most external bends, by the sowable lands of the plain and by meadows. The main feature of the Park is the presence of mountain species (usually growing in the beech woods). In the upper plain strip the territory of the Park is without a doubt the richest area in vegetal species in general, and in species belonging to the protected spontaneous flora. |
