The Park overlooks the hills of the Province of Varese and the Po Plain. It is delimited in the north-west by Valcuvia, in the east by Valganna, and in the south by the town of Varese. It includes two important mountain groups, Campo dei Fiori and Martica, which are separated by Valle Rasa. The particular geographical position and the geological features have favored the presence of a varied vegetation, with chestnut tree and beech tree woodlands, the characteristic flora of the rocky areas, marshy and peat bog zones rich in wildlife. It houses several interesting historical and architectural sites, like Sacro Monte, Albergo Tre Croci del Sommaruga, and Rocca di Orino.
