As a proof of the renown past of this territory, Tizzano Val Parma still keeps two important testimonies. On a particularly panoramic elevation a few meters far from the village, there are the ruins of the ancient Tizzano Castle which was mentioned for the first time in some documents dating back to the 13th century and played an important role between Middle Ages and Renaissance.
Not far from the castle it also rises the Pieve di san Pietro Apostolo from the 11th century. Built in stone and with arched openings in the bell tower, it still preserves inside the ancient baptismal font.
