Parco Regionale dei Colli Euganei

The olive tree was introduced in Colli Euganei in very ancient times; according to some sources, its presence dates back to the Pliocene. However, the olive tree was brought to the Po Plain in the pre-Roman period.
Some Roman authors - Polybius, Strabo, Pliny the Elder, Juvenal, and Martial - have described the fertility of the places and the abundance of the grape harvesting.
