Via Castello, 2 - Lozzo Atestino
The Counts of Lozzo built the Castle of Valbona for defence; it can be considered a crucial place for the wars fought in those years between Paduans, Scaligeri, Estensi and Vicentini. It was destroyed twice, in 1231 and in 1313, but rebuilt both times because of the area's strategic importance. Ownership of the castle passed to the Carraresi family in 1318, as shown by their coat of arms on the entrance door, and then to the Republic of Venice in 1405.
