The mantis shrimp, also known as "pacchero" or "canocchia" is a crustacean belonging to the Squilladae family. It could reach a length of 15-20 cm. It lives on the muddy and sandy bottoms inside burrows and it is a nocturnal predator that feeds on small fish, crustaceans, molluscs and annelids.
