Dolomiti d'Ampezzo Park was established on 22/3/1990 with the Regional Law n. 21 of Venetia and covers a surface area of 11,200 hectares in the north of the town of Cortina, at the border between Venetia and Alto Adige, in the heart of the eastern Dolomites. The Park is based on the ancient and joint ownership of Regole d'Ampezzo, entirely situated in the Municipality of Cortina. The Regole, also called Comunioni Familiari Montane, were born as associations among ancient local families which wanted to promote a collective and joint exploitation of the grazing lands and forests. They date back to the time of the first permanent settlements in Ampezzo valley, at the time of the Celtic and Roman colonization. Where in Italy Parco Naturale Regionale delle Dolomiti d'Ampezzo
