Parco Naturale del Fiume Sile

The name of the municipality with the suffix -ago, which is very frequent in Venetia, probably comes from the name of a Roman colonist (Vitellius), owner of some lands in the area or bovine breeding farms (mentioned as "fundus Vitellianus" or similar names). A less grounded hypothesis makes it come for the word "lacks", meaning lake, in reference to a boggy area.
