Altino Archaeological Museum

The museum, established in 1960, still keeps the archaeological finds coming from the ancient town of Altinum and from its necropolis. The finds, from the Roman and Pre-Roman age, includes paleo-venetian tombstone supplies furnishing proof of the development of the settlement between the 7th and 1st century B.C.; funeral monuments from the 1st century A.C., such as cylindrical and octagonal altars, steles, big circular temple-shaped mausoleums and two beautiful statues of the so-called Tritons from the late 1st century B.C.; architectural fragments, coins, mosaics, and domestic use objects. There are also two outdoor archaeological areas where one can admire the remains of the paved streets and of some buildings. Two buildings are undergoing some renovation works and they will house the new location of the museum, providing the right place for the exhibition consisting of almost 30,000 finds kept in the museum's warehouse.
