Manuali per la pratica sostenibile delle attività sportive nei parchi naturali dell'Umbria
Although some activities are obviously and always incompatible with a nature park - such as an off-road race - others seem to be suitable, nevertheless not always, not everywhere and not in any case they can be carried out.
A typical example is climbing: if this activity is carried out near the nests of birds of prey during their breeding season, it might cause the failure of the nesting due to the inconvenience caused by the presence of climbers. This is the premise which led the Region Umbria to publish the "eco-manuals", that are simple guides for the sustainable practice of sport activities in the protected areas. They especially highlight the existence of elements of high value and particularly vulnerable, such as the blooming of rare herbaceous species or the nesting of a vulnerable bird of prey. Therefore, they also encourage people to practice their favorite activities according to specific rules - some of which already in force - based on scientific evidence, in order to avoid any interference with the natural environment.
