Discovering the ancient customs between the Pontifical State and the Borbonic Kingdom
This itinerary is especially interesting because it offers the possibility to reach and visit the area where once stood the boundary between the Pontifical State and the Borbonic Kingdom. Some remains of the old customs are still visible in the area: part of them are completely abandoned, whereas others were renovated and incorporated in more recent buildings. Also the vegetational values of the area are certainly interesting: along the trail we can admire some specimens of Aleppo pines, but also holm oaks and Downy oaks. About half the way through the route, then, it is extremely interesting to note the presence of some small dry-stone walls, which used to mark the edges of cultivated areas: they witness how in the past the area was subject to an intense agricultural activity, despite the rather high altitude.
