A route through the heart of the Park from Campo Staffi to Trevi nel Lazio

DAY 1: parked our cars at Trevi nel Lazio, we continue by bus to Campo Staffi. From Campo Staffi we go up to Monte Tarino along its eastern ridge, continuing through the green Tarinello plateau and then descending to the Holy Trinity Sanctuary along the panoramic Morra Costantino. After visiting the sanctuary, reopened at the end of July 2024 after installation of provisional protective structures to ensure safety of pilgrims in the event of stones falling, we descend to the Simbrivio springs and the village of Vallepietra. Dinner and overnight stay at the participants' own organization and expenses, possible solutions are indicated on the Park website

DAY 2: From Vallepietra we follow the path which, after a long uphill traverse, gives access to the Faito plateau. In an alternation of impressive beech woodland and clearings, we then reach the Faito fountain and the Faito hut before descending to Trevi nel Lazio, where we find the car left the previous day

This hike is dependent on the bus transfer on Saturday and punctuality is mandatory: under no circumstances will it be possible to wait for latecomers

• Difficulty level: demanding hike which, due to its length (two consecutive long walking days), requires very good fitness. The first day's itinerary presents some passages that require the ability to move over rough and impervious terrain. Classification according to the Italian Alpine Club's hiking difficulty scale: first day EE, second day E
• Overall height difference up: first day 600 meters, second day 700 meters
• Overall height difference down (not to be underestimated): first day 1400 meters, second day 800 meters
• Trekking length: first day 19 km, second day 13 km
• Planned duration (actual walking hours): first day 7 hours, second day 6 hours
• Individual equipment: standard mid-mountain equipment suitable for the season. If in doubt ask the organizing Guide upon registration. Provide spare clothing and everything necessary for overnight stays according to personal needs
• No dogs or other accompanying animals allowed
