The trail from Gambarie to Piazza Nino Martino is called Sentiero Azzurro (blue trail markers, it takes six hours back and forth). It coincides with Sentiero Rosso and Sentiero Giallo up to Piani Quarti, then it climbs the mountain on the right, and goes in an easy path in the wood leading to Piazza Nino Martino. From here, it is possible to enjoy wonderful views of Montalto, of Sicily, and of the Volcano Etna. After Piazza Nino Martino, the path goes down to the spring of Acqua della Face, and goes on towards Punta Scirocco and Gambarie. Nino Martino was a feared bandit who lived in the 17th century; his deeds terrified even the city of Reggio. According to a legend, for a long time every traveller let a stone fall in the place where the outlaw died and this is the origin of the strange group of stones characterizing Piazza Nino Martino.
