Saènt is without a doubt the most famous and busiest valley in the Trentino section of Stelvio National Park.
The suggested itinerary, interesting for its naturalistic and wildlife features, takes about 5.30 hours (round-trip) with a difference of height of 930m.
The itinerary leaves from the car park near Malga Stablasolo, and then follows trail no. 106. After the beautiful Saent Low Waterfalls, you will reach Dòs de la Cros, and then slightly go down to the wet depression called Prà di Saènt to reach, among pastures and peat bogs, Malga Prà di Saènt. Malga Prà di Saènt is a characteristic wooden and stone farmstead now used as a shelter by shepherds and hikers. The trail leading to the Monumental Larch Staircase leaves from the surroundings, where a colony of marmots lives without fear of the human presence. You go along the course of the Rabbiés, among blocks of stone and morainic deposits, up to the Saènt High Waterfalls. Here the route changes direction pointing westwards to Silvio Dragoni Mountain Hut, situated in a beautiful glacial basin surrounded by mountain summits of over 3,000m. The mountain hut is an ideal departure point for spectacular hikes and traverses, and with a short tour of about half an hour you can reach the lowest of Sternai small lakes, from which the stream Rabbiés springs. On the way back, you can follow various trails.
