The Mergozzo identity is closely linked to its body of water, that was once part of the nearby Lake Maggiore. Over the centuries, the floods of the River Toce have filled the ancient mouth, thus separating the two basins. Another particular feature of Mergozzo is its stone activity, linked to its quarries of white and green granite, and the most famous one of Candoglia Marble, used to built Milan Cathedral.
