Val di Susa Marroni (chestnuts) have a big size (one kilo is
made of 85 fruits), ellipsoidal shape, havana brown color with blackish
stripes, and a pale yellow flesh. They can be eaten raw, boiled, or roasted (to make roasted chestnuts) but, thanks to their regular shape and because they are easy to peel, they are very appreciated in confectionery, in particular for the preparation of marron glacé.
