Seat of a church from a document dated 1214, it appears to be one of the oldest settlements in the area. In the XIV century there was already a fortified nucleus subject to the Montecuccoli: in 1405 the Marquis Niccolò III removed Missano from the Montetortore territory and added it to that of Guiglia, a fief of Pio da Carpi. The inhabited centre has parts of great interest: a building with a dovecote tower and architraves with towers and sandstone decorations.
