Riserva Naturale Foci dello Stella |
| The area is a nature reserve of very high interest, situated east of the village of Marano and crossed by the mouth of the river Stella. One of the main features of the reserve is the formation, in the lagoon, of canals that shape wide meanders with muddy and very deep bottoms and sand-banks. All this accounts for the remarkable variations of temperature and salinity. As for the avifauna, the reserve is an area of major international value, recognized too by the Convention of Ramsar, as it is an ideal site where aquatic birds can have a rest and winter. |
