The chapel of Madonna della Neve was built in 1855 on Mount Sap (at 1215 meters above sea level). The chapel remained abandoned for over twenty years, in 1887 it was repaired and equipped with a beautiful floor.
Madonna della Neve is one of the appellations by which the Catholic Church venerates Mary according to the so-called cult of hyperdulia. This is the traditional and popular name for Mary, Mother of God (Theotokos), as sanctioned by the Council of Ephesus. His liturgical memory falls on August 5th and in memory of the miraculous Marian apparition the church erected the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome.
