The inland areas of Sicily, usually called "aree del latifondo siciliano" (areas of the Sicilian large estate) for their orographic and climatic features, are characterized by a varied series of mountains, hills, plateaus, gullies, streams, etc. cultivated with wheat and other cereals, or simply used as pastures. Bare and uncultivated lands are frequent: they are classified as "disadvantaged agriculture lands". It is also possible to find woodlands dominated by pines and eucalypti planted here in the 1960s.
