In Repen, a typical karst hamlet, you can visit the Casa Carsica (Karst House), a typical rural house of the Karst region around Trieste, which also houses an ethnographic museum.
The area near the Reserve has a great historical significance due to the presence of several "castellieri" dating back to the protohistory. The most visible castelliere in the best conservation status is the Castelliere di Rupinpiccolo/Repnič; it was partially destroyed as a consequence of the opening of a quarry in the late 19th century, and it has been restored by the authority for the historical, artistic and ethnographical-anthropological goods.
