The Museum collects documents and evidences of the presence of man in Cansiglio and his relationship with the plateau, starting from Prehistory. The collections are on display in the historical building of Pian Osteria, now entirely renovated.
In particular, it is possible to visit a part of the historical collection of documents regarding both the Venetian rule and the Cimbrian culture, with panels and cards on the forest activities, charcoal production, and breeding activities. Moreover, the activities and settlements of the prehistorical groups of nomadic hunters are illustrated. A section is dedicated to paleobotany and Palughetto finds, preserving the remains of the oldest conifers in Europe. The Museum is also working thanks to the collaboration of Cimbri del Cansiglio Cultural Association.
