Next to the GRA (Grande Raccordo Anulare), it includes some hills representing the spurs of Valle dei Casali plateau. Linked to the latter, the Reserve forms part of the naturalistic corridor in the south-west of the town between the alluvial plain of the river Tiber, the large coastal areas west of GRA, and the urban areas. The Reserve is mainly dedicated to agricultural purposes, and in it you can find small Common oak woods with some specimens of Cork oak. The local wildlife is similar to the wildlife characterizing the adjacent agricultural systems: among the rodents, the field mouse; among birds, the Kestrel and the Black Kite, the Barn Owl and the Great-Spotted Woodpecker. At the edges of the Reserve there is the one and only Holiday Farm operating in the territory. Of great interest the woodland Bosco Somaini, annexed to the Reserve. |
