Les Espaces Protégés au Queensland
Le Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service a été institué en 1998 et fait partie de l'Agence pour la Protection de l'Environnement du Queensland (EPA). Doué d'un document d'institution et d'une nature particulière, il vise, entre autre, à la promotion du respect pour les parcs et la faune.
Le Queensland se caractérise par une grande diversité de paysages, plantes et animaux autochtones. Les valeurs environnementales du Queensland engendrent une forte expansion économique et des emplois aussi bien dans les zones urbaines que dans les zones rurales ; en effet, la conservation de valeurs naturelles si exceptionnelles offre nombreuses possibilités récréatives ainsi qu'une grande variété d'expériences de tourisme naturel.
Les parcs nationaux et les autres espaces protégés du Queensland couvrent une superficie d'environ 7 millions d'hectares. La diversité environnementale du Queensland, qui est entré dans la liste du Patrimoine Mondial de l'Humanité avec le Great Barrier Reef (www), les forêts pluviales tropicales, Fraser Island, les forêts pluviales tempérées du sud-est et Riversleigh Fossil Field, est vitale pour la sécurité économique à long terme de l'industrie touristique du pays. Le Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service gère en outre 4 millions d'hectares de forêts de l'Etat dans l'entier pays.

Les Parcs Marins ont été institués dans des zones exposées à la marée haute et dans des aires marines afin de conserver et protéger leur singularité tout en permettant une utilisation rationnelle de leurs ressources.
