The cement factory was built in the early 1960s. After the requalification works, over 90% of the 40 ha area (known as "ex Saceba") formerly occupied by the factory is now accessible. Visitors can thus enjoy an area having high landscape and natural value. The route is about 2 km long: it starts at the open quarries and goes through the extraction galleries, the grinder, the footbridge over the Breggia, and ends at the furnace tower. The heart of the cement factory, i.e. the spaces where the two furnaces were located (only one is still there) have been converted to exhibition and learning space.
