Protected Areas in Eritrea
Eritrea, besides CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna), has signed three major international environmental conventions relating to desertification, climate change and biodiversity. As one of the three implementing agencies of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), UNDP has been closely working with this leading Trust Fund provider for global environment concerns. UNDP also works closely with the national focal points for Biodiversity, Climate Change (the Ministry of Land, Water and Environment) and Desertification (the Ministry of Agriculture). UNDPs coordinating Government counterpart is the Ministry of National Development.
