The Sile River is undoubtedly the main landmark of the lower Treviso plain; it flows through the regional capital, influencing city planning and characterising the look of the town. It has affected history and local tradition, influencing the farming culture that evolved along its shores. East of Treviso, the river is still an important navigable communication route for boating and tourism; it has recently been gaining in importance as a rowing destination for traditional Venetian boats, rafts, canoes and kayaks; but it is its shores and banks that represent an attraction suitable for all, for pleasurable walks and bicycle tours leading up to the Venice lagoon and then towards Jesolo (Greenway).
