The site includes some of the last surfaces occupied by grassland formations, which are very important from a floristic and phytogeographic point of view. These are the largest and most homogeneous surfaces that have been preserved thanks to the correct management carried out by the military authorities. Populations of the two species of Annex II are present, such as the Friuli cabbage (Brassica glabrescens) and the well represented Tatari cabbage (Crambe tataria). There are numerous alpine species along the Cellina-Meduna flow. It is also an interesting site for the presence of steppe bird species. The rare populations of rural lizards (Podarcis sicula) are among the most northerly in the region.
