The ZPS "Magredi di Pordenone" extends along the entire high plain of western Friuli, from the conglomerate hills north of Sequals to the springs’ belt near Cordenons. Its surface is 10,097.17 hectares and covers part of the territory of 12 municipalities. The magredi are defined by botanists as edaphic steppes, influenced, rather than by the climate (here extremely rainy) by the characteristics of the particularly permeable and arid soil. From an ecological point of view, the magredi also play a fundamental role in connecting the wild fauna and flora of the Pordenone plain.
