The "Valloni di Rio Bianco e Malborghetto" site is very extended and covers 4662,5 hectares, including several alpine landscapes typical of the eastern Carnic Alps. It develops north of the Val Canale and reaches the border with the Republic of Austria from Mount Osternig to the east up to Mount Poludnig to the west. Vallone di Rio Bianco, Vallone di Malborghetto and Vallone di Ugovizza are almost totally included. The lithological and morphological diversity and a different use of natural resources mean that within the site there are very different plant landscapes. Heights range from about 700 mt. (the point where the ZSC area reaches Val Canale) to just over 200 mt. on Mount Osternig.
