The site includes a significant portion of two Prealpine carbonate reliefs and the pass that separates them from the Arzino springs to the Tagliamento Valley. The occupied area is about 2400 hectares, with altitudes ranging from 480 meters above sea level at the top of Mount Verzegnis located at 1914 meters above sea level. The ZSC is divided between the Municipalities of Enemonzo, Preone, Socchieve, Tramonti di Sopra and Tramonti di Sotto. There are no inhabited centres but there are the Valle di Preone (Chiampon) settlements and some active or abandoned farmsteads. This site is crossed by a dense network of forest roads.
