The ZSC covers 350 hectares in the low Friuli plain, and consists of two wooded areas connected to each other on alluvial soils with emerging groundwater. It also includes part of the Cormor river and the Muzzanella stream. The site presents one of the last sections, among the largest ones, of woodland in the Friuli-Venezia plain with European oaks, white hornbeams and, in the more humid area, black alder and ossiferous ash.
