The area includes the northern summits of the calcareous chain called Montagna dei Fiori, whose widest part is situated in the Abruzzi. The sector at hand consists of the Mount Giammatura (m 1,034) with its northern summits, towards the Tronto Valley. The vegetation mainly consists of arid pastures, where also many orchids are present, and of remaining areas of deciduous woods.
