The outermost spur northwards of the Laga Mountain which culminates in the Mount Comunitore (m 1,695), made up of large stratified molasse layers. The vegetation is represented by beech forests, with a rich nemoral flora in the undergrowth, such as the blueberry, and by pastures characterized by nardus vegetation. Rich in endemic species area with a limited distribution.
Due to its ecological features the site is considered as belonging to the continental biogeographical region, even if the 18% of it is situated in the alpine region within the 7 km wide buffer.
