The Biotope/Provincial Reserve called "Prati di Monte" (Valda Lake) is a Site of Community Importance (No. 28) aiming to protect what has remained of an active high peat bog of glacial origin. Such areas are considered as a particularly rare ecosystem on the Alps, especially on the Italian southern slope, therefore they are of extraordinary botanical interest.
