The Casa Rustica (meaning Rural House) was built according to the project made by the architect Pio Soli in 1886-87 as headquarters for the scientific research and management office, in order to keep museum collections. On the ground floor there is a small museum with a collection of wood, seeds and fruits from the Garden and of ancient tools. On the first floor there are the herbarium and related laboratories. At the beginning of World War II, in 1940, the Casa Rustica also hosted a military unit.
