Level of difficulty: easy to medium
An evocative trail to get to know the Park's woods and pause in the nature and silence.
From the church of San Michele in Acquafredda take the narrow road that goes up by the fountain and that, past the last houses, turns into a dirt road. Walk past a votive column, always going up through the chestnut wood. Some wooden banks along the trail are good to take a breath. The road gradually narrows and turns into a trail by the grassy summit of Bric della Feia, where you will find a comfortable picnic area.
Going down on the other side, the trail zigzags through the wood and becomes more demanding. Although harder, this stretch is botanically very interesting, and offers lovely views. Walk down the northern slope of Bric della Feia to another fork: turn left on the trail that stays on altitude. The wood is more diverse here, with beeches (as this slope is cooler along Rio della Feia) and Scots pines on rocky grounds. This is one of the Park's most charming spots, where the trail runs along the pinnacles of Dolomite rock - among which the "Rocca del Falcone" - and with a beautiful view over the water of Bormida di Millesimo. Still in the wood, the trail becomes progressively larger and leads back to Acquafredda. This loop is highly recommended in the fall, between mid-October and the beginning of November.
