The Visitor Center houses the exhibit "La vegetazione del Parco": the route describes the different aspects of the vegetation characterizing Dolomiti Friulane, beginning with general information on the vegetation of the mountain areas to end with the complex and important historical relationship between man and plants.
Moreover, the most interesting naturalistic aspects are described, like the adaptation to considerable environmental difficulties, endemic species, and the different ways in which plants organize in communities.
The structure houses a didactic botanic lab, as well as temporary exhibits dedicated to herbs and mushrooms.
The upper floor houses a multimedia congress hall.
"Sentiero dei bambini" (The Children's Trail) and "L'orto botanico" (The Botanic Garden) are linked to the Visitor Center: the former is a naturalistic itinerary developing in the valley bottom, suitable for groups of students or families, the latter has been created thanks to the collaboration among the Park,
Consorzio Dolomiti Friulane, and the schools of Forni di Sopra.
From spring 2005, "Percorso delle piante alimentari ed officinali" (The Route of the Edible and Medicinal Plants) will also be available.
The aim of this project is to preserve the historical memory of the traditions linked to autochthonous cultivations, stimulate their knowledge, and offer practical examples on the use of edible and medicinal plants, contributing at the same time to the tourist development of the area.
