The use of the Park for tourism, cultural, educational and recreational purposes, in ways that are compatible with nature and landscape protection, is among the aims of Grigna Settentrionale Regional Park; to this end, the protected area has updated its educational activities and offers them for the year 2023, too.
1. Introduction and purposes
The natural environment, with its geological features, fossils, endemic plants, peculiar fauna, and the human environment with its numerous farms and local products, certainly has the numbers to offer a wide range of environmental education activities.
Environmental education represents a right regardless of age, occupation, residence, mobility. Considering the high educational value of the local heritage, it also represents an opportunity to involve as many people as possible in the knowledge, learning, sharing of skills and resources.
The Park's annual educational programme especially addresses schools, without however neglecting residents, groups, tourists, occasional visitors. They all can enjoy a programme that is constantly enriched with new skills, new thematic proposals, new materials and equipments to develop the educational contents.
2. General aim of the Programme
The local context naturally suggests multiple itineraries for environmental education, whose objectives are:
The specific objectives are linked to each individual activity.
3. Recipients
The Park has a vast "user base": the programme addresses children, teens and adults living in or visiting the Park. In particular, and building on past experience, a specific programme has been designed for schools. This year, too, with the purpose of widening the offer in terms of services and activities, the programme also addresses high schools - mainly within the province - which are offered specific content connected with the curricula of the various schools.
4. Programme activities
To fulfil its purpose, the Park offers many environmental proposals: naturalistic workshops both in class and outdoors, excursions, guided tours, nature courses and nature camps. The program is based on some themes, considered as a priority for the Park: the protection of biodiversity (fauna, flora, vegetation) and of waters (lotic and lentic environments), sustainable food (farms and typical products), fossils, geology (rocks and minerals), climate change and hydrogeological instability.
Activities can have a daily or annual duration.
Specifically, annual activities are designed for all grades of local primary and middle schools. Together with our own programme of activities, schools are also offered the opportunity of planning customised activities based on their specific curriculum. Read more
