Mordina small lakes are two: the Mordina Nord small lake of natural origin, and Mordina Sud small lake, completely artificial. The second was built in the 19th century to collect water to be used for irrigation purposes, but also as a place of recreation for the young people of the aristocratic family that then owned the area (i.e., the Passalacqua family). The pond construction took actually place by exploiting the natural morphology of the area, in steps and with a depression at its bottom. It was therefore sufficient to create a counter slope, particularly to the west of the depression, to create the water body.
