A journey through rupestrian art, archeology, castles and nature

Visiting the Parco delle Incisioni Rupestri di Grosio is an opportunity to learn about the ancient history of the Valtelline valley and to immerse oneself in a fascinating natural environment. It is a travel back in time, from the metal age with more than 5,000 pictures depicted in the Rupa Magna and the archeological finds from the Grosio rise which are now exhibited in the Antiquarium. Keeping on walking the trail one can find the remains of the Old Castle, dating back to the 10th or 11th century, the romanesque steeple of the castle church and two Lombard tombs dug into the rock. Then one can admire the New Castle, built in 1350 by the Viscounts from Milan, characterized by double medieval walls with defensive purposes.
