The park is situated in the Eastern part of Lombardy and it extends itself between the regional border in the North and the river Po in the South, including the valley of the river Mincio as well. The territory is various: from the morainic hills to the terraced plain, from the meander-shaped area with paleoriverbeds to the lakes of Mantova, the wonderful wetlands of the Valleys of the Mincio and the plain woods of Bosco Fontana. The system of locks and historical canals is remarkable, as well as the artistic and architectural elements, like the Sanctuary of S. Maria delle Grazie, the church of S. Maria degli Angeli, and the several villas of the Gonzaga period. |
