Asinara has a narrow and long shape and is run by a concrete road which well integrates in the landscape and goes from Fornelli in the south to Cala d'Oliva in the north, for about 25 km. Following this road it is possible to see the most important habitats of the island and its most characteristic species. Along it, you will also get to the main towns: Fornelli, Tumbarino, La Reale, Cala d'Oliva. The main road is connected with the Park thematic trails, mainly developing along dirt roads or pre-existing mule tracks, or along trails used in the past by shepherds. An ideal trip to the island should last at least three days: one day should be dedicated to the area around Fornelli, another one to La Reale, and the last one to Cala d'Oliva. The best seasons to visit the area are spring and autumn. In July and August it is not recommended to walk along the trails because of the high temperatures.
